It takes literally just a minute to open an account here, and because Virgin Bingo very kindly deposit a smidgen of cash in your new account (£1 at the time of writing) you can try the site for real without spending any of your own money. This is a great feature, and indicates just how confident the site is that you will want to continue playing once you’ve got a taste of how the Virgin experience plays out. And in this instance, such confidence is not misplaced. The games are really affordable, and start from as little as 10p a card, enabling you to buy a full strip of six cards for 60p. More expensive games which offer bigger prizes are of course available, but it is nice to be able to try things out without breaking the bank. Once you have bought your tickets, it’s time to sit back and wait for the game to begin. There is a handy “Auto Dab” feature which means that you don’t have to worry about missing any numbers, but if you prefer to dab your numbers yourself then you can. The caller sounds bright and happy, and your cards are automatically put in the order of how close they are to winning. The colours of the cards also change the closer you get to that winning line, two line or house, and seeing a red card at the top of your screen (which means you need just one number to win) really does get the heart beating a little faster. You can choose from several chat rooms without affecting the game you are playing, and this is a very good idea because it allows you to mix and match your game and chat preferences. The chat is warm and friendly and winners are usually congratulating with a stream of “WD” (well done!) comments from the room. There are mini games that can be played here, but because they open in separate pop-up screens, they are not really practical unless you don’t mind letting the bingo game play itself in the background. We would have preferred to have seen mini-games embedded on a smaller scale on the main screen, but hey, we can’t have everything, can we? All in all, we have to take our hats off to Virgin Bingo. They have created a great online experience which everyone should try. In fact, it’s so good that it’s been added as a permanent fixture to our favourites list. How’s that for a recommendation?
