Blackpool Bingo
Blackpool Bingo was originally taken over by Blackpool Club Bingo who are now redirecting all their bingo traffic to Ruby Bingo so this review is now for information purposes.
Blackpool Bingo used to be a download-only web site that offered 90 ball bingo as played in licensed pubs and clubs throughout the UK. We say ‘used to be’ because the site no longer exists, and when you visit the original site you are automatically redirected to Blackpool Club Bingo instead.
For those of you who are interested in knowing what the original Blackpool Bingo site offered, cards started at 10p each and offered bonus cards to players who bought several (15 or 20, depending on the game) to play simultaneously. The cards were presented in the centre of the main Blackpool Bingo gaming screen, with a numbers board, animated ball selector and game information taking up the rest of the space. Players had the option to view the gaming environment in a window or full screen.
Whilst there was a token nod toward the Blackpool theme with the inclusion of a Blackpool Bingo logo, there was little at Blackpool Bingo to make the site stand out from the crowd. Yes, it was fairly well designed and colourful, but the voices of the callers were also fairly monotonous. The prize levels for bingo didn’t make anyone hold their breath either. Imagine winning 75p for a line… £2.50 for a full house… or maybe landing the progressive jackpot of £30. Gasp!
Okay, so the site was fairly quiet the last time we visited, but the fact remains that if you wanted to win any really decent money at Blackpool Bingo, you needed to focus on the mini games, where progressive jackpots could run up to five figures. If you played normal Blackpool Bingo at off-peak times then you were looking at turning a 10p card into around £2.50 if – and only if – you happened to get lucky and win the full house. We’re not particularly greedy, but we always thought that our investment of time was worth more than that.
Chat was friendly, but again, if there were only two other people in the room and one of them was the Blackpool Bingo moderator, you were never going to have much of an immersive experience off peak. Of course, the optimists might have pointed out that playing against one other person increased their odds of winning, but by that token they might as well have played on their own and won the pot every time.
In short, we’re not surprised that Blackpool Bingo has disappeared from the radar and now redirects to Blackpool Club Bingo especially considering it was licensed in Kahnawake which falls outside the white list. What did surprise us is the fact that players weren’t actually notified of the redirection when it took place. For almost everyone we know of, the first they knew about the change was when they visited the original site and were automatically whisked away to Blackpool Club Bingo instead.
The good news for online bingo players is that Blackpool Club Bingo offers a lot more in the way of fun and entertainment than Blackpool Bingo ever did, so if you fancy a spot of Blackpool magic when you play online bingo, Blackpool Club Bingo is now the place to go.
