Sexist online bingo prizes

With Mother's Day just a couple of days away it's no wonder that the world of online bingo is offering a whole plethora of gifts suitable for your Mum; flowers, chocolates, perfume and even Flamingo Pink laptops. However, whilst we understand that Mother's Day is all about the ladies, do the same bingo sites then offer 'blokey'; gifts and promotions when Father’s Day is on its way? Very few to be honest so what's with all the sexist online bingo prizes?

Yes, we completely understand that the biggest demographic for bingo, both online and offline, is women but that's not to say that men don't play bingo, they do! We scoured the chat rooms and spent a little time talking to one of the many men that love the game of bingo online.

Lee is a 36 year old man who works as a web designer and lives in Wolverhampton. He loves a game or two of online bingo. Lee was introduced to the game by a female friend.

Lee thanks for taking the time to talk to us, just a couple of questions about online bingo for you. Firstly, our piece is about 'sexist online bingo prizes' do you find this annoying?

Yes, very much so! I love playing bingo online but find the majority of sites give us men very little or no thought at all even though we have money to spend.

Some sites do offer alternatives but these are generally cash, would you prefer that, when running a promotion with prizes, that the online bingo sites offering a female specific prize, offered a male orientated alternative?

I would rather have a prize then cash, a prize proves to me that a bingo site has taken some time to consider what we like and has made the effort to make a promotion fair for all players, cash is an easy alternative and they know it will just get spent on their site anyway. Prize bingo attracts different players than those that chase the big cash prizes.

There are male specific sites available, well one that we know of, is this a site that you would choose to play at over big names in the industry simply because they cater more for men with their prize offerings?

Definitely but its not all about the prizes, its the site design, the colours, the content, we don’t all want play on a pastel coloured site and read our horoscopes or the latest gossip from the soaps. The selection of online bingo games is also a factor.

Well, there you have it from the 'horse's mouth' as it were. Sites wishing to attract more men through there virtual doors really need to spend some time considering what we men want!
