Scottish bingo luck seems to be in abundance recently as two National Bingo Game players scooped prizes of five figures in Paisley and Kilmarnock.

A 69 year old Paisley grandmother made a full house in 42 numbers when she was playing at the New Globe Club in Johnstone on Tuesday 15 April. This won her the house prize of £60, a regional prize of £2,000 and a National Bingo Game prize of £36,580, giving her a grand total of £38,640.

Interviewed after the win, she said: ““I am only just calming down now, although I still think I must be dreaming. It is certainly a night I shall never forget, or the date as it was my daughter’s birthday.”

The winner plays bingo at the New Globe club every week, and now plans to share her good fortune with her family. “I will be treating my family of two daughters and five grandchildren, although they all tell me they don’t want it and to spend it on myself,” she said.

“It has certainly come at a great time for me,” she continued. I have just had my house re-wired and it is in such a mess. Everywhere needs re-decorating. I was excited when I won the £60, and thought that would buy most of the wallpaper. Then when they announced I had won the National as well it was a shock but a lovely surprise. Everyone clapped and gave me a big cheer.”

In Kilmarnock, a 62 year old grandmother won £18,000 by making a full house in 42 numbers at her local Gala Club. The winner, who is retired and plays at the Gala two or three times every week, was shocked by the biggest win of her life, which came just as she was about to leave.

“It still hasn’t sunk in yet,” she said. “I was on my way out when the National results came through and the manager told me how much I’d won. But I didn’t believe him at first – I was just happy with the house prize. I went back into the club and everyone was clapping me.”

She added that her husband was delighted as well, and the lucky couple are now planning to use some of the money to treat their family.
