Political correctness hits bingo
We have seen many things fall foul of political correctness over the years, the Robinson Golliwog being just one, but now it’s hitting the game of bingo! Political correctness hits bingo but so far it only seems to be the world of land based bingo so far. However, it could find it’s way into the world of online bingo and the infamous bingo calls that we all know and love could change forever!
Bingo calls like “Two Fat Ladies” and “Legs Eleven” have been written out of the calling thanks to Sudbury Town Council who believe that using the bingo lingo could land them “in trouble”. Consideration has even been given to how the council stand on insurance should two fat ladies be offended in their local bingo hall and choose to sue the council. This is absolutely absurd and people seriously need to lighten up before this moves into the world of online bingo!
Bingo calls like these have been around for years and as yet there hasn’t been any litigation against a land based bingo hall for the use of call for the number 88. We even had to check the date on our calendar when reading the original story in the East Anglian Daily Times, the team thought it must be April 1st because someone, somewhere really is having a laugh!
Let’s hope that 888 Ladies Bingo don’t take a leaf out of Sudbury Town Council, this online bingo site took the time to change all of their bingo calls from the traditional to something a little different. Some of the calls are more than a little risqué and could offend someone enough to sue! For those of you that weren’t sure, that was sarcasm ;)
