A Kentucky court judgement recently instructed that 141 online gaming domain names be removed from the public realm on the basis that the sites were being employed to supply or promote gambling, which is prohibited by law throughout the state of Kentucky.
The inventory of domains included many online bingo, poker and casino websites, in addition to those of well established global software suppliers like Microgaming.
The most recent information released by the court confirmed that around 22% of the sites had been taken over by the court of Kentucky or had re-directed their online traffic to new domains.
Along with a number of other online bingo sites that allowed incoming traffic from US players were www.123bingo.com and www.bingoknights.com both of which are now forced to direct their players to new bingo sites, in the expectation that this will be sufficient action to avoid any potential legal action threatened by the state of Kentucky.
Since the decision was made public this week, growing numbers of online bingo operators that provide online entertainment for US bingo enthusiasts have been increasingly concerned as regards the future outlook for their businesses.
Many online bingo operators are expected to face major financial losses as they endeavour to launch their re-branded products into the online market.
