Foxy Bingo reveals total raised by jackpot game for Children In Need
Last weekend, popular online bingo operator, Foxy Bingo launched an impressive £20,000 guaranteed jackpot game in order to raise cash for Children In Need’s 2008 appeal.
Foxy bingo promised to donate £1 for every online bingo ticket purchased for the big charity game and managed to raise a whopping £12,951 in total on the night.
The £20,000 jackpot was shared by two lucky Foxy players “Bonkaru2” and “mikeyb73”.
Since the launch of Children In Need in 1980, the BBC has reserved an entire evening of programming each year to broadcast events designed to raise funds for the many UK charities working with children.
Last year's event raised more than £37million in total, £13million of which was received on the evening that Children In Need was broadcast.
With the help of the Great British public, this year's event smashed all previous records and an astonishing £20,991,216 was raised on the night, although it is not clear what the eventual total will be. The total raised since the very first Children In Need event 28 years ago has now reached more than half a billion pounds.
Viewing figures for the 2008 fundraiser reached 11million - more than three times more than ITV crime series Taggart which was aired at the same time.
