'Bingo Babes' boost online gaming revenue for 888 Group

Traditionally online gaming has been seen as a predominantly male pursuit, but the numbers of females entering the eGaming market has increased massively over recent years, and as a result online gaming companies have been forced to evolve to remain successful and continue to grow.

Online gaming leaders 888 Holdings Plc have revealed a significant 36% growth in online revenue for the 2nd quarter of 2008. The growth has been stimulated by the success of their 888ladies.com site which promotes online bingo as its primary focus, with updates and advertisements aimed predominantly at women.

The UK boasts to the fastest growing online bingo marketplace in the world, with the number of UK online bingo websites has increased from scarcely 17 in 2004 to a massive 243 by June 2008. And with somewhere in the region of half a million frequent online bingo players in the UK, 888's focus on female online players and virtual bingo looks to set to continue to pay dividends.

888 made the move to launch 888 ladies bingo in order to improve revenue after the company's turnover diminished by 50% when the United States banned overseas gaming sites from its marketplace in 2006.

In an official state the CEO of 888 Group Plc explained that the traditional image of OAP's playing bingo was out of date and wholly inaccurate in today's modern times. He went on to confirm that the vast majority of online bingo players were 'Bingo Babes' - young females with higher than average disposable incomes.
