Advertising online bingo
Nowadays it’s very rare that you sit and watch television without at least one advert for online bingo appearing on the screen. When it comes to advertising online bingo there are many campaigns shown on the small screen with big brand names all vying to produce the most memorable of commercials. Last year we saw Foxy Bingo receive kudos from Adwatch as they ranked number 10 in a survey for the most memorable adverts of 2009.
So what makes a good online bingo advert? Is it the theme tune, the storyboard or the characters? Each and every member of the viewing public will have their own opinion and whilst Foxy Bingo is, without a shadow of a doubt, the market leader in branding, many viewers dislike their mascot.
888Ladies launched their first ever campaign that featured Vic Reeves dressed as a lady and then the follow up campaigns, the bingo superstars, seemed to lose the connection with their brand.
Wink Bingo, Posh Bingo and Moon Bingo are all advertising their online bingo brands on the small screen and Wink Bingo have even had some impressive sponsorship deals for prime time TV shows which include Celebrity Family Fortunes and Harry Hill’s TV Burp.
Tombola Bingo hit the ground running with their fairground adverts only to be penalised by the ASA after a complaint that sited the appeal to children. This saw the next round of commercials lose the edge and become more like advertisements for Saga holidays than that of an online bingo brand.
We are bound to see much more TV bingo but for now, in our opinion, Foxy Bingo gets the best bingo advertisements medal for great branding and funky music!
