BINGO - what you shout when you have won, or the Bingo site flashes up to say there is a winner. The game is now over.
Bingo card - The card with numbers on that is yours. You check the numbers drawn to see if they are on your card.
Blackout - See Coverall.
Bonus - a credit or incentive offered by a site to get you to play Bingo, or to play more Bingo.
Chatroom - an online area where you can type in and ‘talk’ to other players. It is monitored by a host or supervisor and you must behave appropriately.
Coverall - A pattern where you must cover the whole card to win. There is usually a special jackpot prize for this.
Credit - the amount in your online Bingo account. You may choose to withdraw some if there is a lot there, or add to it if it is low. You must have credit to play online.
Early Bird - a game which starts before any other scheduled game. Sometimes has a special prize as an incentive to get players online early in a day or evening.
Free space - usually this is the centre square of a Bingo card, and it does not have a number, but counts if you are looking to complete a line.
Hardway - Bingo in a straight line without the use of the free space.
Jackpot - the amount of money available to be won in the Bingo game. More than one person may win online.
Log-in - The username and password you registered with, that lets you get onto the site to play Bingo.
Lottery - a very similar game to Bingo, but you select the numbers you think will win, and wait to see if they do. In Bingo, you check numbers off a grid to see if you can get a winning pattern.
Minimum buy-in - Bingo games vary in price. A card may cost 10p upwards. For a particular game the rules may say you have to have a minimum entry fee, or buy in of £1. So, in this example you would have to buy a minimum of five 10p cards to play.
Pattern - The shape you need to cover on your card with called out numbers. Often a straight line (horizontal, vertical and diagonal). Could also be blocks or squares. If you manage to match the pattern within the designated number of balls then you win the jackpot prize. If not then you win the prize in question.
Progressive Jackpot - A Jackpot that gets bigger until it is won. There is usually a separate buy-in for Progressive Jackpot games.
Registration - the same as signing on. This is when you tell the Bingo site who you are and what username you will play under. It is the name you will use in the Bingo Chatroom.
Sign-in - the same as Registration. This is when you tell the Bingo site who you are and what username you will play under. It is the name you will use in the Bingo Chatroom.
