Numerology For Bingo Players

Numerology, which can be defined as a system that aims to connect numbers with physical events, is a bit like astrology - you either believe in it or you don't.

There is no scientific evidence that numerology works or that any given number makes a person luckier or unluckier than any other, but many bingo players are willing to give the idea the benefit of the doubt in order to reach their own conclusion. If you are one of those people then the following instructions will help you to calculate your numerological 'Lucky number' based on your full name:

  • First, write our your full name on a piece of paper (as it appears on your birth certificate), spacing the letters wide enough apart that you can write a one or two-digit number underneath each. For example, if your name is Nancy Clinton you would write:

N A N C Y C L I N T O N

  • Next, under each letter of your name, write the position of that letter in the alphabet. A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 right through to Z = 26. The name Nancy Clinton would therefore be:

N A N C Y C L I N T O N
14 1 14 3 25 3 12 9 14 20 15 14

  • Now add all of these numbers together. Using a calculator will keep things as easy as possible, and will speed things up considerably if you have a particularly long name. Again, if we illustrate this step with our example name of Nancy Clinton, we would calculate:

14 + 1 + 14 + 3 + 25 + 3 + 12 + 9 + 14 + 20 + 15 + 14 = 144

  • In almost all cases the total will be more than one digit long, so you will need to add the digits together one or more times until you get a final single digit number. Our total here is 144, so we would add 1 + 4 + 4 to give a final number 9.

At this point you know that the numerological 'lucky number' for the name Nancy Clinton is the number 9. How you use your own lucky number as a bingo player is up to you. Some players like to buy the same number of tickets or strips. Some like to play the same number of games. Some like to make sure they play on certain dates or at certain times for example, on the 9th or at 9am or 9pm.

Of course, there is no guarantee that doing any of this will improve your chances of winning (and from a statistical perspective, nothing can improve those chances apart from buying more tickets) but if you are willing to give the art of numerology a trial for a few weeks or months, you may just find yourself becoming a believer...
