Bingo - The Big Revival

Bingo Balls Over the past few years the traditional game of bingo has had a massive facelift and is enjoying a significant increase in popularity, particularly with younger generations, and which shows no sign of slowing down. During the 1970's bingo was considered to be at the top of its game, making fun and affordable entertainment accessible to the nation.

However the success of the game started a steady decline during the 1980's, and by the early 1990's bingo was considered out dated and unfashionable.

A fresh surge of interest transpired shortly after the new millennium and rescued the game from the verge of extinction. New age bingo companies launched a succession of dynamic and energetic marketing campaigns featuring national celebrities and rejuvenated the traditional game by modernising venues and adapting to changed social requirements. All this was of course precipitated by the birth of online bingo which has grown at a startling rate and continues to enjoy massive mainstream success.

In the UK bingo boasts overall annual prizes in the region of £1.1billion, which is a huge figure by the standards of any industry, and is obviously excellent news for the entire British bingo community, both online and land based,  and for Customs & Excise who net somewhere in the region of £115million in duty from bingo each year.

The National Bingo Game is one of the UK's prime computer controlled events, with only the National Lottery being greater in size. National Bingo is played in around 500 authorised land based bingo halls in the UK 363 days a year (with the exception being Christmas Day), every year, with weekday jackpots ranging from £50,000 to £200,000.
